THE FIRST ZANZIBAR TOURISM SUMMIT UNVEILED AT HOTEL VERDE
On 26th of July 2019, Hon. Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Information, Tourism, and Heritage launched and hosted the first ever Zanzibar Tourism Summit at Hotel Verde Zanzibar.
This two-day summit was one of a kind as it brought together prominent tourism stakeholders from different value chain of the tourism sector, including investors, experts, associations and all relevant government officials to collectively discuss on the good practices, opportunities lies in the sector, challenges and come up with transformative solutions to effectively sustain this promising tourism summit.
In the opening speech, Hon. Kombo highlighted that the decision to call this summit is base on his personal beliefs that Zanzibar as archipelago of islands has unlimited potentials to become the premier tourist destination in the world.
He further explained that Zanzibar has the opportunity to reach an enviable place in the world because we have all it takes to become premier, with stunning ancient capital of Stone Town, dazzling coastline of powdery white sand beaches and colorful coral reefs, all of these and more can assist us in improving our competitive advantage with our neighboring islands and create diverse quality products which will help in the strategy of targeting higher spending and higher quality tourists.
The carefully selected theme of the summit is “Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Industry in Zanzibar for a Brighter Economic Prosperity.
